May and June at the same time . . .

What can I say, I am a natural multitasker - so when I completely missed working with the May kit, I decided to work on them together, cause, why not?  Here are two layouts made with the May Cocoa Daisy kit.

The patterned paper is Cocoa Daisy exclusive, the doily was from my stash and the tag is a really old My Mind's Eye piece (lovely day) that I have been trying to use forever and was finally successful.  Been trying to put the embellishments that I get with the kits on the pages - I tend to lean toward cleaner pages and have to work hard to add the little bits.  I love the look on other designers work, but struggle sometimes to make it look the way I want on my own.

I have a red problem, so this page makes me super happy plus it includes a rare pic of my mom and brother and me which is another reason for me to like this page.  Experimented with the vignette tool in Picasa and I like the way it works with the black in Howard's shirt and really pulls the focus to the three of us vs. the random background stuff.

And here is what I managed to get printed today for the next round of scrapping this evening and tomorrow.  that should add up to four projects. I am working on figuring out ways to batch things to help not feel so distracted between the scrap table and the computer.  The screen can be a black hole . . .

I've been on the computer for a while working on two years of Girl Scout photos and mother's trip to Germany - Snapfish has a sale 25% off on orders today so I went for it.  Scout project is ordered - mother's is still in progress.

Then, back to Project Life and anticipating my July Cocoa Daisy kit by weeks end.  Too bad we are going out of town this weekend and I will miss playing with it, but I am looking forward to the time away.  Plus trips to the farm always make for great photos with which to play!

Well, I have been a little busy . . . scrapping

Ok - brace yourself - this may take a while.  A few days ago I posted this to instagram

And now they look like this:

I made this LO, well, let's just say a really long time ago at LoneStar Scrapbook Store (which is out of business) when Elizabeth Kartchner came to teach a class (she was pregnant with Lola which is now like 2 yrs old!)  Anyway, it was a great LO and I have been waiting to find the perfect picture for it - Viola!
A close up - about her getting a new big girl bike - Barbie no less!
Based on a starting point from Shmielle's Hitchhiker Class at Two Peas

The finished LO - this has also been sitting for a while

Another from a sketch by - oh devil - I can't remember - will keep looking and update when I find it.
The title is for when I add another picture - but I can't make the scanner work to save my life this week.  Are you ready for this?

Yes, that's me!  Scary isn't it?

Well, goodness, that's a lot of photos.  I had better get to bed.  Elsie is sick and I have to figure out a plan for tomorrow.  She has a stomach bug - FUN!

Groooooovy Baby!!!!!

This spring has brought its share of exciting events.  My favorite so far?  The disco party we attended as a family where we won the costume contest. I mean, wouldn't you vote for this?

What you can't see is the awesome vintage zebra print pants suit that I am working.  It is hot!  At least our kids can't say that we don't know how to have fun or that we won't make utter fools of ourselves.  This project life page ought to be pretty interesting.

Been Busy! Let's Go Aero's

Well, aside from a trip to Vancouver for work, trying to raise the rest of the money for the building and keeping up with the kiddos, I can't think of what else has kept me so busy.  Making a summer schedule (will post that later this week), planning church movie nights, T-ball games, going to the last Hockey game of the season, working on project life, and the never-ending perpetual calendar project - oh, yes, that is what I have been doing.  So just a little pic from this weekend.  We went to the Aeros game with the Ervins and the Wills.  Good times, but it is rough to get home late on a Sunday.  Me with Wyatt and Brooke (Wyatt's birthday buddy).

Loving a good sketch

Well, I seem to be cranking through some pages recently thanks to a new class at Two Peas by Shimelle.  If you are a scrapbooker and you haven't registered for this class - you should ask yourself "why the heck not?"  It is simply amazing.  I am trying to pace myself and not watch all of the videos before I start working on layouts and I am doing a farily good job of that - I have watched two of the five classes and have been working on layouts most nights.  Here is something I finished with pictures from 2005 - that's right folks seven year old photos - SCRAPPED.  Yippee!  Love how it came out.  I have been hoarding this SEI "madera island" paper forever - why? - cause I am a child of the seventies and I love browns and it takes me all back to happier carefree times.  But I cut into it and I am thinking I may have a brown phase in my scrapping till I use it all up.  This page makes me miss my Granddaddy maybe that is why it has taken me so long to do it.  I think these photos were even taken with a film camera - it was shocking to find this entire grouping of double prints - remember those???

On Deck for Friday Night

For my scrapbooking friends - prepare to laugh:

So my DH said to me today that he has a home work assignment for his online class for fire officer II that he hasn't been able to work on yet that is due soon.  Then he says that even though he is off HFD (Houston Fire Dept) tomorrow he is teaching a class during the day and won't have time during the day tomorrow either.

Not sure where this is going so I ask, so when are you going to work on it?  Then he replies, well, I really need to work on it Friday night (pause) could you possibly find something to do in your scrapbook room to work on so I can have time to do my homework?

Ummm, yeah, I guess I can do that for you sweetheart.  I will see if I can figure something out . . . .

Hahahaha!  This is already on the table, papers picked out and a few sketches next to it that might work to push me along.  Yippee.  Thank goodness for homework!

In case you are wondering - no, that is not my husband.  That, my friends, is the biker from the Village People!!!!!!  And yes, the feather is from the Indian!  But that is a story for another day!!!!  YMCA, Macho Macho Man . . . .

Ice Cream Treat

yummy!

All done!

We went for ice cream this past Friday cause, well, because we could, and because Wyatt did so great on his interview at school. He's such a big boy.  It was a wonderful treat, plus Amy's gives a discount to Rice employees.  I'm sold (not that I really needed more reasons to get amazingly good ice cream!).

Lots and Lots of Scrapping Around here!!!

Well, we are having a delightful "stay home day" here in Houston. DH is working at the college today teaching something medical related and the kids and I have been slacking in our pjs, watching TV, playing Kinect (not fighting hardly at all) and mommy has been scrapping and upload images to Cocoa Daisy and Two Peas.  So here is a little of the progress -
Tea Time - made with January's Tea and Cupcakes Cocoa Daisy Kit
I have no idea why this won't post correctly!!!

Anniversary page from our outing in June

Can you believe I did this entire page this morning with two kids at home?

I finally decided on butterflies for the accents and added a strip of stars - very happy!
You can see the full images and the close up shots at 2 Peas or Cocoa Daisy gallery.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Just not sure and an update on things around here

So I am working on this page about my two silly kiddos and something about it isn't working for me.  I like everything but the accent spots.  I tried buttons already but decided it needs to be something other than a circle.  I just put the tickets on there and I can't decide.  There is no glue on this page at all, everything is changeable.  I am just not ready to commit.  How silly is that?  I think I should just adhere it and call it a day.  I need to channel some Shimelle Laine here and make it work. . . Any advice?  I am thinking more and more I need to take that class of hers.  Wishing I would win a spot on the blog hop they are doing.

Other than this little project, I am pleased to announce that we think our little guy will get into the bridge program at school - yeah!  One drop off and one pick sounds soooo devine.  Just registed them for zoo camp and have been thinking about what they will do this summer.  Looking for crafts and activities for them - maybe I will head to Pinterest tonight.

Thinking about getting these books - "Money Doesn't Grow On Trees" by Neale Godfrey and something work related for me - "Read This Before Our Next Meeting" by Al Pittampali

Working on Project Life - still need to do last week.  Didn't take any pictures last week - need to do a better job this week or just run around the house taking some timeless photos.  Thanks to my DH for taking photos today at the dentist.  What a doll.

Ok - back to work!

Cocoa Daisy - In with the New, Out with the Old Challenge

So excited to actually get a challenge completed on time - not that I expect to win but it was so fun to get to play along. The challenge this month at Cocoa Daisy was for you to use things from the new kit and things from a past kit.  Well I feel like I took the past kit use to a new extreme!  I used the Sassafras cards, American Crafts thickers and two cardstocks from the current kit - By the Numbers, some of the Sassafras paper flowers from January's Tea and Cupcakes Kit, some Jillibean chipboard alphabet from the October Famer's Market Kit and some paper from the September - Printers Drawer kit and finally some velvet ribbon from the July Kit - Urban Loft.   Whew!  I feel seriously accomplished in getting all of that to go on one two-page spread!  Also used October Afternoon alpa and labels in a few spots.

Be My Valentine

For the first time in a long while I was a calm mom on the night of February 13th as my girlfirend and I finished the kids valentines on February 4th - I love advance planning.  So here they are - sorry for the very bad picture that I took with my phone. I couldn't take another because my wonderful children sealed them up like I asked them too after they signed them.  We had a couple left over which we dropped to three sweet neighbors who are like extra grandparents to our kids.  I hope those little notes brought a smile to their faces.

Mommy - can we have coffee?

This is Wyatt's favorite phrase recently.  And I have to admit he is smart - figure out what mommy likes and then beg her to do it daily.  So once a week or so, we stop for coffee after dropping Elsie at school, just me and Wyatt.  As we pull out of the STES drop off alley, he says, "It's just you and me, right mommy?" and then he starts, "Mommy, can we stop at Starbucks?"  Some days the answer is no, mommy has a meeting or we are running late, but some days I relent and take him.  We don't stay long.  He always orders the same thing - milk and a petite vanilla scone.  But he loves the time with me.  And so do I.

Coffee with spiderman

How did we kick off december 2011? With a trip to Starbucks of course. I took spiderman with me. Isn't he dashing in his outfit? We ran into Wyatt's friend "Dutch" the dog. Wyatt decided Dutch was on santa's good list. Wonder if mommy is too?
