Coffee with spiderman

How did we kick off december 2011? With a trip to Starbucks of course. I took spiderman with me. Isn't he dashing in his outfit? We ran into Wyatt's friend "Dutch" the dog. Wyatt decided Dutch was on santa's good list. Wonder if mommy is too?

I am finally back to work and feeling better.  Had a brief bout with a stomach flu.  Yuck.  Thanks kiddos.  Still debating, can I swing the December Daily - hmmmm.  I really want to.  I have the supplies to do it.  Should I just got for it tonight, cut those 52 sheets of paper and see what happens?  Only time will tell (and the attitude of the kids when I get them home.  Wonder how long that will take me???

It's tomorrow!

Well, Thanksgiving Day is looming in front of me - why?  Cause, as usual, my expectaions are high and I am sure to be disappointed.  I have visions of homemade place cards (which I printed already - I just need to cut out, staple, fill with candy and insert lollipop sticks), a thanksgiving mini album (from Bella Blvd which I also have printed and need to put together) and non-whiney children.  I won't get them, but I always dream.  Well, as I brace myself for the holiday, I am trying to think of how my attitude will control everything.  To use a good line from The Happiness Project - Just like she sings in the mornings, I will sing in the holiday.  I am trying to keep my perfectionist, Type A personality calm and realistic.  Stay tuned - it just might happen, this year.

Calendars and Such

I stopped in this morning at Dromgoole's in Rice Village for my yearly visit.  Why only yearly?  Well, I hope that I am not revealing too much about myself when I say that I love office supplies and it is best to limit my exposure to them for obvious checkbook related reasons.  I especially love good office supplies.  I also get huge happiness out of new notebooks and the fact that office supply stores are open ridiculously early.  So I went this morning to purchase my paper calendar refill - yes, paper.  I live in the frustrated university world - cuaght somewhere between Microsoft Outlook and the dreaded paper calendar.  I have both, but alas, no exchange server to render the paper calendar obsolete.  And don't forget the multiplication of this calendar drama - the family calendar on the fridge and the completely seperate calendar of my "old soul" of a husband that still uses paper.  Just remembering to purchase three paper calendars is enough to drive any sane girl to the office supply store with a strong longing for at least a pretty paper calendar.  Mine is lime green leather, small enough to fit in my huge purse (which isnt saying much) and only accepts pencil.  Now I sit at my desk transcribing back and forth from paper to electronic and back again only to do the same when I arrive home tonight with both the fridge calendar and the hubby's calendar.  It is a miracle I have not scheduled myself to be in Canada and California at the same time!  P.S. I did manage to sneek a small purchase in along with my calendar refill (it is only fair since the purchase alone was torturous enough) two small moleskine volant "legnedary" notebooks in two sahdes of pink.  Just the idea of the blank pages is thrilling. . . too bad they will probably only see phone numbers and grocery lists - but at least they are pretty.

Starting Point Challenge

Just finished a LO based on Shimelle Laine's Starting Point Challenge. It was simple and looked doable after the kids went to bed so I dug in having already picked out some paper by My Mind's Eye's Fine and Dandy Collection. Of course I have had some in my stash for ages, but it wasn't until I got my Cocoa Daisy kit July Urban Loft Kit that had a sheet of it did I remember this great set. This is one of those random pictures that you grab the camera for and then try to figure out what to do with it later. So it has sat, all alone, for a while, and then it just hit me - I needed to record a little of the bedtime routine as it is right now. That he loves me to sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" before I tuck him in and that he is a huge staller when it comes to bedtime. So here it is - my handwriting and all.

Well, here I am.  I have a couple of goals for this blog.  1. A place to think.  2.  A place to write (yes I write in my spare time of which I have none).  3.  A place to share family stuff  - photos, funny thoughts, and ideas.  4.  A place to be scrappy, as in my true scrapbooker self.  5.   I will throw in a little fundraising for good measure - since that's my day job.  Let the games begin . . . .
