I'm Challenged - Again

So I submitted for the challenge again over at Cocoa Daisy. I just couldn't resist.

Here is my latest submission.  I cut out the squares and added paper to the holes.  It was a fun project to do once I got over the fear of cutting into that lovely Sassafras paper.  The kits are so lovely.

They asked for a color combo name - so mine is:

Blush and Bashful and Luv Ya True Blue Tourquoise.  (and yes, that is a direct quote from Steel Magnolias - the blush and bashful part - goodness!  I love that movie - "My colors are blush and bashful.  I have chosen two very different shades of pink, one is MUCH darker than the other).

A Cocoa Daisy Challenge - WINNER!!!

Cocoa Daisy had this great challenge last month - to use the current kit and lots of other past kits - I had a blast making three layouts for the challenge and you know what?????  I won the challenge.  I feel like I won a million dollars.  And even though there was no monetary prize, just being on the CD blog was the best feeling ever.  I don't scrap for other people, but the CD community helps to spur me on and give me ideas and creative energy and inspiration.  The owner is so sweet and they hand write notes on the packing slips and send personal emails when you have a question.  Feels like you are part of this awesome family - the kind that always has room at the dinner table for extra guests and somehow manages to have pie and ice cream at the ready no matter what.  The Daisy's rock!  Check out the post at this link - I also pasted it below.

Hiya,
We had our second International Reveal this week. If you haven’t seen the galleries yet, you can do so by clicking here.

We also have some March Kit Prompts. Do you need some ideas to get you started on this months kit? For example, take a look at why Kim has been collecting the glassine envelopes that come in the new kit boxes.

Take a look at this post for some more inspiration using this months kit.

We have our first winner from the ‘Just For Fun – In with the new-Out with the old’ challenge. We are using our new kits along with the leftovers from the previous kit.

Iska totally rocked this challenge. Not only did she create this beautiful double page LO here.

But Iska then went on to make two more : ) Well done Iska and thank you for playing along.

We have another ‘Just For Fun’ challenge this month. Simply use your new ‘Pier 39′ March kit with any leftovers from last months kit. This month we are throwing in a little twist. We want you to stcik to a 2-4 colour combo and name what your combo is. Get creative with the colour names.

Here’s mine with the combo: Peppermint – Cinnamon – White

Visit this post for more details and upload your creations to play along. The challenge will run until April 13th.

Have fun with your new kit, it’s a beauty this month.

Scrapping like mad!

I have already gone over and over the awesomeness of the class I am taking.  Here are some of the layouts that I have been cranking out.  I am having so much fun.  I have more projects laying out on the desk so watch out - more to come.  I think I will work on something for Cocoa Daisy next and then tomorrow is Shimelle's "and now for something completely different" on the UK Scrappers site.  So much fun to keep up with - I am doing the  Hitchhiker's Class, the starting points on Shimelle's blog, watching the Glitter Girl videos on Wednesday and now the once a month on the UK blog.  Whew!  And only $9M left to raise for the building for work!

Shocker!  A page with a picture of me on it.  That hardly ever happens!

Loving a good sketch

Well, I seem to be cranking through some pages recently thanks to a new class at Two Peas by Shimelle.  If you are a scrapbooker and you haven't registered for this class - you should ask yourself "why the heck not?"  It is simply amazing.  I am trying to pace myself and not watch all of the videos before I start working on layouts and I am doing a farily good job of that - I have watched two of the five classes and have been working on layouts most nights.  Here is something I finished with pictures from 2005 - that's right folks seven year old photos - SCRAPPED.  Yippee!  Love how it came out.  I have been hoarding this SEI "madera island" paper forever - why? - cause I am a child of the seventies and I love browns and it takes me all back to happier carefree times.  But I cut into it and I am thinking I may have a brown phase in my scrapping till I use it all up.  This page makes me miss my Granddaddy maybe that is why it has taken me so long to do it.  I think these photos were even taken with a film camera - it was shocking to find this entire grouping of double prints - remember those???

Hitchhiker's Class - finished layout

I am so excited to be taking Shimelle Laine's Hitchhikers Guide to Scrapbooking class at Two Peas.  At only $25 it is a huge bargain for so many ideas and sketches.  I made this based on a layout from the first lesson and I really like the way it came out.  I was kind of struggling with what to do, but it came together really quickly after listening to the video and reading the great pdf.

About the layout - this is a photo of me with the biker from The Village People.  Yes, that iconic band that I grew up hearing as a child.  I was thrilled to attend their concert, but even more excited to randomly get to hang out with him after the concert.  A group of us got to sit and chat with him and I am happy to report that he is a very sweet guy.  What an amazing memory to capture.
Finished page!

On Deck for Friday Night

For my scrapbooking friends - prepare to laugh:

So my DH said to me today that he has a home work assignment for his online class for fire officer II that he hasn't been able to work on yet that is due soon.  Then he says that even though he is off HFD (Houston Fire Dept) tomorrow he is teaching a class during the day and won't have time during the day tomorrow either.

Not sure where this is going so I ask, so when are you going to work on it?  Then he replies, well, I really need to work on it Friday night (pause) could you possibly find something to do in your scrapbook room to work on so I can have time to do my homework?

Ummm, yeah, I guess I can do that for you sweetheart.  I will see if I can figure something out . . . .

Hahahaha!  This is already on the table, papers picked out and a few sketches next to it that might work to push me along.  Yippee.  Thank goodness for homework!

In case you are wondering - no, that is not my husband.  That, my friends, is the biker from the Village People!!!!!!  And yes, the feather is from the Indian!  But that is a story for another day!!!!  YMCA, Macho Macho Man . . . .

Ice Cream Treat

yummy!

All done!

We went for ice cream this past Friday cause, well, because we could, and because Wyatt did so great on his interview at school. He's such a big boy.  It was a wonderful treat, plus Amy's gives a discount to Rice employees.  I'm sold (not that I really needed more reasons to get amazingly good ice cream!).
